Campylobacteriosis

• Diarrhea (often watery, sometimes bloody)
• Abdominal cramps
• Fever
• Nausea and vomiting
• Headache

The main routes of transmission are through consuming contaminated food, especially raw or undercooked poultry, unpasteurized milk, or untreated water. Contact with infected animals (e.g., pets, farm animals) or their feces is also a common source, and person-to-person spread is rare but possible.

• Thoroughly cook poultry and other meats.
• Avoid cross-contamination between raw and cooked foods, and their juices.
• Drink pasteurized milk and treated water.
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling raw meat, using the restroom, or contact with animals.
• No human vaccine is currently available.
