Honduras has one of the more significant health risk profiles in Central America. Malaria transmission occurs throughout most of the country including some coastal resort areas. Dengue, Zika, and chikungunya are endemic and have caused large outbreaks. Food and waterborne diseases including typhoid and hepatitis A are risks throughout the country. Limited healthcare infrastructure outside Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula means evacuation planning is important for extended travel.
